Theme Night - 31st March 2020 Boats! Join us to sing songs and play music with a tenuous link to boats! The more tenuous the better!
All Singers and Musicians are welcome, and we endeavour to ensure that everyone performs. It is a very popular event, so it is recommended that you arrive at 8pm and give your name to the MC at the table by the entrance door.
We have unaccompanied singers, singers with guitars, singers with whistles, whistle solos, accordion, melodeon and concertina, group offerings, duos, shruti box, hand bells, keyboards, with choices of poetry and humorous writings interspersing the music.
We enjoy plenty of sing-a-long well-known songs, along with self-written songs and music, traditional folk, modern "popular-music-metamorphosing-into-folk" and some great poetry. Bob Dylan often gets an airing....very often, in fact!
We are an acoustic Folk Club, so there is NO AMPLIFICATION. Only keyboards are allowed to plug into the electricity socket. However, the acoustics are great, so you won't need amplification. But note, electric guitars and electric bass guitars are not accommodated.
Come and enjoy the music, whether as a performer or an audience member. We are at The Telegraph on the 9th May and fortnightly after that. (Note the Guest Artists' Page as we have Guest Artists four to five times per year.)
An informal sing-around is held in The Telegraph bar on the Non-Folk Club Tuesdays. You are very welcome to join this gathering.
